The Leela Goa

Opened in 1991 in South Goa near Cavelossim Beach, The Leela Goa was the second property launched by Capt. C.P. Krishnan Nair, designed to blend Portuguese heritage with Indian luxury across 75 acres. It became a premier seaside resort known for its lush landscapes before transitioning to The St. Regis Goa Resort in October 2022.

Key Historical Aspects of The Leela Goa:

  • Founder's Vision: Founded by Capt. C.P. Krishnan Nair, who named the group after his wife, Leela. The hotel was part of an expansion to create world-class resorts in India.
  • Design and Architecture: The property was designed to reflect Portuguese heritage, featuring sprawling, landscaped gardens and scenic views of the Arabian Sea and a golf course.
  • Location: Situated in Cavelossim, South Goa, it offered a secluded luxury experience, far from the busier tourist spots in North Goa.
  • Transition: In October 2022, The Leela Goa was officially rebranded to The St. Regis Goa Resort.

Though the property changed branding, it remains a landmark in Goa's luxury hotel history, established early in The Leela group's expansion, which began with their Mumbai flagship in 1986.
