Evolve Back Kabini

Evolve Back, Kabini, opened in 2008 as part of the Ramapuram family's luxury resorts (formerly Orange County) in Karnataka. It is designed to emulate the traditional Hadi (tribal villages) of the local Kadu Kuruba tribe, located on the banks of the Kabini River near Nagarhole National Park, focusing on rustic, eco-friendly luxury.

History and Evolution of Evolve Back Kabini

  • Origin: The parent company, Ramapuram Holdings, was founded by a family of planters with over 100 years of history in South India. They initially launched [Orange County Resorts] in Coorg in 1994, which later rebranded to "Evolve Back" to reflect a deeper focus on local culture and the "spirit of the land" philosophy.
  • Development of Kabini: Opened in 2008, the Kabini property was designed to offer an immersive, sustainable, and high-end wildlife experience.
  • Architecture & Theme: The design is directly inspired by the traditional huts of the local Kadu Kuruba tribe, featuring mud-walled cottages with thatched roofs and natural materials that minimize environmental impact.
  • Evolution: The resort has maintained its focus on intimate luxury, providing specialized experiences like the "Safari Hut" and "Pool Reserve" (with private heated pools) and emphasizing its location, which is nestled between two of South India's richest wildlife reserves.

Key Aspects of the Resort

  • Location: Situated on the edge of the Kabini River, offering scenic views and close proximity to the Nagarahole National Park.
  • Design Philosophy: The architecture uses local construction styles and materials, with villas featuring thatched roofs, bottle gourd lampshades, and private swimming pools.
  • Experience: The resort is known for its wildlife safaris and for providing an experience that connects guests with the culture of the indigenous peoples of the area.
