RAAS Devigarh

RAAS Devigarh is an 18th-century palace in Delwara, Udaipur, built by Rajrana Sajja Singh II in 1760. Originally known as Delwara Fort Palace, this former royal residence was restored over 15 years and reopened in 1999 as a luxury heritage hotel. Now managed by RAAS Hotels, it merges historic architecture with modern design.

Historical Highlights:

  • Original Construction: The palace was built using locally mined marble in the mid-18th century as a royal residence in the Aravali Hills.
  • Strategic Location: It was historically significant as the Delwara principality, gifted to Rajrana Sajja Singh and his brother in 1576 following the Battle of Haldighati.
  • Restoration (1984-1999): The dilapidated fort underwent a massive 15-year restoration to transform it into a luxury boutique hotel.
  • Modern Era: Acquired by RAAS Hotels, it features 39 suites, combining modern amenities with its original, minimalist white-plaster aesthetic.

Key Features and Design:

  • Architecture: The property features a signature look designed by

    Studio Lotus

, blending the original palace structures with contemporary minimalism.
  • Sustainability: The Virasat Foundation, the hotel's charity arm, has been involved in local school refurbishment and stepwell restoration.
  • Location: Situated in the Aravali range overlooking the village of Delwara, roughly 45 minutes from Udaipur.

RAAS Devigarh was one of the first major restoration projects of its kind in the region, aimed at bringing "new-world comforts and old-world charm" to visitors.
