National Institute of Ayurveda

The National Institute of Ayurveda (NIA) in Jaipur, established on February 7, 1976, by the Government of India, is a premier apex institution dedicated to promoting Ayurveda through high-quality education, research, and patient care. Celebrating 50 years of service, it is the first Central Government-funded Ayurveda institution to become a Deemed-to-be-University.

  • Foundation: Established on February 7, 1976, by upgrading the Rajasthan State Government's Ayurvedic College to a national-level institute.
  • Establishment & Goal: Founded as an autonomous body under the Ministry of AYUSH to set high standards in Ayurveda education, training, and research.
  • Deemed University Status: NIA is India's first Central Government-funded Ayush institute to be declared a Deemed-to-be-University (De Novo).
  • Academic Excellence: Offers

    UG (BAMS), PG (MD/MS), Ph.D., and Diploma courses


    in various Ayurvedic specialties, including Kaya Chikitsa, Shalya Tantra, and Panchakarma.
  • Golden Jubilee: The institute has completed a 50-year "Golden Journey" of service, marking its significance as a leader in Ayurvedic education and healthcare.
  • Infrastructure & Research: Located in Jaipur, the campus features a hospital offering comprehensive healthcare, a Swarna Prashan unit, and research facilities.
  • Recent Developments: Dedicated to the nation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 13, 2020.
