Siliguri is one of the most well-connected cities in North Bengal, serving as a gateway to Darjeeling, Sikkim, Bhutan, and Northeast India. It has excellent air, rail, and road connectivity, making it easily accessible from Kolkata, Delhi, Guwahati, Patna, and other major cities.

 

 1. By Air (Fastest & Most Convenient Option)

Siliguri is served by Bagdogra International Airport (IXB), one of the busiest airports in Eastern India.

 Major Flights to Bagdogra (IXB):

 From Kolkata (1.5 hours) – IndiGo, SpiceJet, Air India
 From Delhi (2.5 hours) – Vistara, AirAsia, Go First
 From Mumbai (2.5 hours) – IndiGo, Go First
 From Bangalore (2.5 hours) – IndiGo, Akasa Air

 Distance from Siliguri: 15 km (30 min drive)
 From Airport to City: Prepaid taxis, Ola/Uber, and shared cabs are available.

 Tip: If heading to Darjeeling or Sikkim, book a direct taxi from Bagdogra Airport.

 

 2. By Train (Most Budget-Friendly & Comfortable Option)

Siliguri is served by New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP), one of India’s busiest railway junctions.

Siliguri is well-connected by National Highways (NH-10, NH-27, NH-31) to major cities and hill stations.

 Distance & Road Travel Time from Major Cities:

 From Kolkata (560 km, 12-14 hours drive) – Take NH-12 via Malda & Raiganj
 From Patna (450 km, 10-12 hours drive) – Take NH-27 via Kishanganj
 From Guwahati (400 km, 8-10 hours drive) – Take NH-27 via Cooch Behar
 From Darjeeling (65 km, 2.5-hour drive) – Take Hill Cart Road or Rohini Road
 From Gangtok (110 km, 4-5 hour drive) – Take NH-10 via Teesta

 Main Bus Terminals in Siliguri:
 Tenzing Norgay Bus Terminal – Long-distance buses to Kolkata, Guwahati, Gangtok, and Nepal
 P.C. Mittal Bus Stand – Buses to Darjeeling, Kalimpong, and Bhutan

 Tip: Luxury AC Volvo buses from Kolkata to Siliguri provide a comfortable overnight journey.

 

 4. By River (Upcoming Option)

  • A new inland waterway project is being planned to connect Siliguri with the Teesta River and Bangladesh.
  • Currently, there is no direct water transport available.

 Tip: For a scenic experience, take a boat ride on the Teesta River near Sevoke.
