Williamnagar, the district headquarters of East Garo Hills, is located in northeastern Meghalaya. While it does not have its own airport or railway station, it is well connected by road from Shillong, Tura, and Guwahati.

 By Air – Nearest Airports

1. Shillong Airport (Umroi Airport) – 200 km (~6-7 hours by road)

✅ The nearest airport to Williamnagar.
✅ Limited flights available from Kolkata and Guwahati.
✅ From Shillong Airport:

• Take a taxi to Shillong City (~1 hour).
• From Shillong, hire a taxi or board a bus to Williamnagar (~6 hours).

2. Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (Guwahati) – 320 km (~8-9 hours by road)

✅ The best and most connected airport for reaching Williamnagar.
✅ Well-connected to major Indian cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata.
✅ From Guwahati Airport:

• Take a bus/shared sumo to Shillong or Tura.
• From Shillong or Tura, take a taxi or bus to Williamnagar.

 Tip: Guwahati Airport is the best option for domestic and international travelers.

 By Train – Nearest Railway Stations

1. Guwahati Railway Station – 320 km (~9 hours by road)

✅ The nearest major railway station to Williamnagar.
✅ Well-connected to all major Indian cities.
✅ From Guwahati Railway Station:

• Take a shared sumo or bus to Shillong/Tura.
• From Shillong/Tura, hire a private taxi or take a local bus to Williamnagar.

2. Dudhnoi Railway Station (Assam) – 165 km (~5 hours by road)

✅ A smaller station with limited connectivity.
✅ Mainly useful for travelers coming from Lower Assam.

 Tip: Guwahati Railway Station is the best option due to better connectivity.

 By Road – Best & Most Convenient Option

Williamnagar is connected via NH217 and NH127B, with scenic road routes from Shillong, Tura, and Guwahati.

1. From Shillong (240 km | ~7 hours)

• Route: Shillong → Nongstoin → Rongjeng → Williamnagar (NH217).
• Transport Options:
