 By Air – Nearest Airports

1. Shillong Airport (Umroi Airport) – 30 km (~1 hour by road)

✅ The nearest airport to Mawlai.
✅ Limited flights available from Kolkata and Guwahati.
✅ From Shillong Airport:

• Take a prepaid taxi (~₹1,500-₹2,000) to Mawlai.
• Alternatively, take a shared sumo or local bus to Shillong city, then hire a taxi to Mawlai.

 Tip: Pre-book a taxi as public transport is limited at Shillong Airport.

2. Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport (Guwahati) – 120 km (~3.5-4 hours by road)

✅ The best and most connected airport for reaching Shillong and Mawlai.
✅ Well-connected to major Indian cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata.
✅ From Guwahati Airport:

 Tip: Guwahati Airport is the best option for domestic and international travelers.

 By Train – Nearest Railway Stations

1. Guwahati Railway Station – 105 km (~3-4 hours by road)

✅ The nearest major railway station to Mawlai.
✅ Well-connected to all major Indian cities.
✅ From Guwahati Railway Station:

• Take a shared sumo (~₹400-₹600 per person) or bus (~₹200-₹500 per person) to Shillong.
• From Shillong city, hire a local taxi to Mawlai (~₹100-₹300).

 Tip: Shared sumos to Shillong leave frequently from Paltan Bazar, near Guwahati Railway Station.

 By Road – Best & Most Convenient Option

Mawlai is connected via NH6, with direct road access from Shillong, Guwahati, and other parts of Meghalaya.

1. From Shillong City Center (Police Bazaar) – 5 km (~15 minutes)

 By Taxi:

• Local taxis are available (₹100-₹300 per ride).
• Shared taxis operate on a fixed route (~₹20 per person).

 By Bus:

• Meghalaya Transport Corporation (MTC) buses run from Police Bazaar to Mawlai (~₹20-₹50 per ticket).
