History & Significance

Nizamabad’s history dates back to the Satavahana dynasty (2nd century BCE - 3rd century CE).
It was later ruled by the Chalukyas, Kakatiyas, Rashtrakutas, Bahmanis, and the Nizams of Hyderabad.
The city gets its name from Nizam-ul-Mulk, the ruler of Hyderabad, who developed it during the 18th century.
