  • Agro-climatic Zones: The state is divided into four agro-climatic zones:
    1. Low Hill Sub-Tropical Zone (Bilaspur, Una, parts of Kangra, Solan)
    2. Mid-Hill Sub-Humid Zone (Mandi, Hamirpur, parts of Shimla, Kullu)
    3. High Hill Temperate Wet Zone (Kinnaur, parts of Chamba and Lahaul-Spiti)
    4. High Hill Dry Temperate Zone (Lahaul-Spiti and parts of Kinnaur)
  • Climate: Varies from subtropical in lower hills to cold alpine in higher altitudes.
  • Rainfall: 1250 mm (average annually); Monsoon is the primary source of rain.
