Major Spices and Production

• Turmeric: Telangana is the largest producer of turmeric in India, accounting for 30% of the country's production. However, the state contributes minimally to turmeric exports due to lower curcumin content (3-4%) compared to other regions.
• Chillies: The state ranks second in chilli production, with significant cultivation in districts like Khammam, Warangal, and Mahbubabad. Telangana's chillies are known for their high oleoresin content, making them valuable for exports.
• Other Spices: Ginger, garlic, tamarind, and coriander are also cultivated, contributing to the state's diverse spice portfolio.
