Government Initiatives & Research:

The Department of Agriculture, Government of Puducherry, undertakes various initiatives to support farmers and promote sustainable agriculture.

• Subsidies & Incentives: Government provides subsidies for agricultural mechanization, especially for small, marginal, and women farmers, and Scheduled Caste/tribal farmers. Incentives are also offered for high-yielding paddy cultivation and other crops like sugarcane, millets, groundnuts, and cotton.
• Organic Farming Promotion: Puducherry participates in central government schemes like "Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY)" to promote organic farming, offering financial assistance for organic inputs, certification, and marketing.
