Formation: Originally formed on 1 October 1953, and reorganized on 1 November 1956 (on linguistic basis). Bifurcated on 2 June 2014 to form Telangana.
Capital: Amaravati (under development; executive capital), with Visakhapatnam proposed as the administrative capital and Kurnool as the judicial capital (as per recent proposals).
Official Language: Telugu (widely spoken and the first classical language of the modern South Indian states)
