Festivals of Chhattisgarh – A Grand Celebration

Chhattisgarh celebrates unique festivals that blend tribal customs, spiritual rituals, and folk traditions.

Famous Festivals:

  • Bastar Dussehra (September – October) – The longest Dussehra in India (75 days), celebrated with tribal rituals, chariot processions, and animal sacrifices.
  • Rajim Kumbh Mela (February – March) – A sacred fair similar to Kumbh Mela, held in Rajim, a city known as the Prayag of Chhattisgarh.
  • Goncha Festival (July) – A unique tribal festival where people carry wooden guns and mock fight battles.
  • Madai Festival (November – March) – A colorful tribal festival celebrating harvest, nature, and deities.

Best Time to Visit: September – March for festivals and cultural experiences.

Highlight: Bastar Dussehra is the only Dussehra in India that does not celebrate Lord Rama but instead honors Goddess Danteshwari!
