1. Ancient Assam (Pragjyotisha & Kamarupa Kingdoms) –

Assam was known as Pragjyotisha in Vedic texts and later as Kamarupa during the rule of the Varman and Pala dynasties (4th–12th centuries CE). The famous Kamakhya Temple in Guwahati, dedicated to Goddess Shakti, was established during this period.
