Climate of Himachal Pradesh

Himachal Pradesh experiences diverse climatic conditions due to its varying altitudes, ranging from 600m to over 6,000m above sea level. The state has four major seasons:

  •  Spring (March – April): The weather is pleasant and refreshing, with blooming flowers and lush greenery. Ideal for sightseeing and trekking.
  •  Summer (May – June): The best time to escape the heat of the plains. Hill stations like Shimla, Manali, Dalhousie, and Dharamshala offer cool temperatures and scenic beauty. Ideal for adventure activities like trekking and paragliding.
  •  Monsoon (July – September): This season brings heavy rainfall, especially in places like Kullu, Kangra, and Dharamshala, leading to occasional landslides. However, regions like Spiti Valley and Lahaul remain dry and are perfect for road trips.
  •  Winter (October – February): Himachal transforms into a winter wonderland, with heavy snowfall in regions like Manali, Kufri, Narkanda, and Spiti Valley. Ideal for skiing, snowboarding, and winter trekking.
