 1. Char Dham Yatra – The Ultimate Pilgrimage Circuit

The Char Dham Yatra is one of the most sacred Hindu pilgrimages, covering four revered temples in the Himalayas.

Kedarnath Temple – Dedicated to Lord Shiva, located at 3,583m in the Garhwal Himalayas.
Badrinath Temple – A revered Lord Vishnu temple, surrounded by Neelkanth Peak.
Gangotri Temple – The origin of River Ganga, dedicated to Goddess Ganga.
Yamunotri Temple – The source of River Yamuna, dedicated to Goddess Yamuna.

 2. Haridwar – "Gateway to the Gods"

Haridwar is one of the holiest cities in India, located on the banks of the River Ganga.

Har Ki Pauri – Famous for the Ganga Aarti, a mesmerizing spiritual experience.
Mansa Devi Temple – Dedicated to Goddess Mansa Devi, located on Bilwa Parvat.

 4. Hemkund Sahib – The Highest Gurudwara in the World

A sacred Sikh pilgrimage site located at 4,329m in the Himalayas.

✅ Dedicated to Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the 10th Sikh Guru.
✅ A beautiful glacial lake surrounds the shrine.
✅ Often combined with the Valley of Flowers trek.

 Best Time to Visit: June - October (Closed in winter due to heavy snow).

 

 5. Jageshwar – The "Abode of Lord Shiva"

Jageshwar is an ancient Shiva temple complex consisting of over 100 temples, dating back to the 9th century.

✅ Considered one of India’s oldest Shiva shrines.
✅ Surrounded by dense deodar forests in the Almora district.
✅ A lesser-known spiritual retreat, ideal for meditation and peace.

 6. Tungnath – The Highest Shiva Temple in the World

✅ Located at 3,680m, Tungnath is the highest Shiva temple on Earth.
✅ Part of the Panch Kedar pilgrimage, along with Kedarnath, Rudranath, Madhyamaheshwar, and Kalpeshwar.
✅ Offers breathtaking Himalayan views and is an easy trek from Chopta.

 7. Neelkanth Mahadev Temple – Sacred Shrine of Lord Shiva

✅ A major Shiva temple located near Rishikesh, surrounded by mountains.
✅ According to mythology, Lord Shiva drank poison here during Samudra Manthan.
✅ A popular pilgrimage destination, especially during Mahashivratri.
