GEOGRAPHICAL BACKGROUND

Odisha lies between the Eastern Ghats and the Bay of Bengal. This positioning allows for rivers to originate in the highlands (mostly in western and central Odisha) and flow eastward, eventually draining into the Bay of Bengal. As they descend, the rivers form stunning waterfalls, particularly in districts like Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Koraput, and Kandhamal.
